In the late fall of 2015, Wilfred Kozub released his debut solo album, What’s Gonna Become of Us. The album was intended as a small digression from his bigger project with Wilfred N & the Grown Men, this time following his passion for experimenting with electronic music and little film music pieces. The result is a beguiling collection of instrumentals that Kozub describes as music that can be found “somewhere in the Air between Ennio and Eno”.
“It has been so much fun doing this instrumental music that I’m already working on new stuff for my next solo album,” says Kozub. “I’m really excited about getting back to what I was doing in the early 70s when I studied electronic music at Grant MacEwan College and started experimenting on my own. It’s like starting all over again with the same kind of enthusiasm and curiosity. I’m really having fun.”
What’s Gonna Become of Us has already earned Kozub radio airplay on university campus stations across Canada as well as in Europe and the UK. The album is nominated in the Electronic Recording of the Year category of the 2016 Edmonton Music Awards.
