The Gear Seabastian

The Gear Seabastian is an Indie Folk Rock band with an original sound of its own. Our musical influences include The Beatles, Bright Eyes, and Queen. We are always looking for something creatively unique and inspirational. The band was originally formed in 2005 by Brothers Andrew & Gregory Tkach in the hamlet of Fawcett, AB. The two brothers would collaborate with many different local artists. The band would write and record many home recordings over the years.

The Gear Seabastian released many recordings online. This included the acoustic LP entitled Unfinished Design. With recordings like this, the band has developed a solid internet following. Over time, the band has accumulated over 8000 plays on platforms such as Purevolume, Reverbnation, & Bandcamp.

The band has played many events in the local Westlock area. This included the Canada fireworks ceremony in 2012. As well as Wacky Saturday in 2013. In that time, our band also began to embark on the Edmonton music scene. Over the years, we have opened for sonic bands of the month Death By Robot, The Unfortunates, and Gibson Block. As well as other great bands such as The Dryland Band, I am Machi and Mobina Galore . We have also played multiple shows for the charity Project Hope in 2012 and 2013.

During an extended period of personal adversity, the band decided to revisit our music. We dealt with many misfortunes such as sickness and the loss of family members. The band refocused our efforts to create art and music that would be more positive and hopeful. We set out to create music that would inspire ourselves and other people dealing with the same kinds of hardships. Hence why we created the EP: Hopeful Horizon. The band recorded the EP at Smith Music in Morinville, AB. We collaborated with long time close friend Jeremy Pudlowski. Jeremy not only played bass and sang backup vocals, he helped design all of the album art. Completing the album was such a rewarding experience. We are in the midst of booking shows across Alberta for the upcoming summer to share and promote the EP! We want to share our passion and love for music with everyone we meet.
