Rellik

Rellik is an award winning, multi award nominated, diverse group of urban artists from western Canada. A unique blend of refined hip hop music, combined with the soulful vocals of Andrew Decorby, they offer an act full of talent, substance, and emotion.

Billy LeBlanc, better known as Rellik, got into Hip Hop at an early, formidable age, and gradually developed his craft over the years. Throughout his career he has rapped alongside Talib Kwali, D12 and Kardinal Offishall also proudly shared the stage with some childhood heroes such as Run DMC, Casual, and Canadian Icons Buffy St. Marie and The Guess Who.

Signed with New Leaf Entertainment in 2005 and now Independent, the multi nominated, critically acclaimed debut album Mighty Mouth released in 2011. Rellik released a remix album for Mighty Mouth in early 2013 with contributing producers from across Canada and is scheduled to release a sophomore release, titled “Cut From a Different Cloth” in late spring, 2013.

A gifted wordsmith known for his quick witted and gritty punch-lines, Rellik is no stranger to adversity and has transcribed his experiences growing up in low income housing to getting custody of his boys, into hard hitting lyrics skilfully spit with emotion and determination.

From transcribing the emotions of gaining custody of his children, then the sudden loss of his mother, to fierce fully describing his frustrations with the music industry, or political subjects, Rellik has always made the point crystal clear.

Both members being aboriginal, Rellik was raised on Cree principles. Of Metis descent (French and Native American) he does not feel the need to write exclusively about either. “While still in touch with our aboriginal roots, I feel the need to write material that all hip hop listeners can relate to regardless of their ethnic background or experiences”.

Rellik has a rare gift in composing lyrics that not only get in your face but get right under your skin. His messages are carefully placed ontop of beats carefully arranged so the listener is barely aware of the impact his words bare, often until the second or third take.

As a Seasoned performer with hundreds of performances tucked under their belt , over the years, they have learned that an audience enjoys raw energy but also appreciates some lighter, more personal moments, which songs like “thank you” and “daddys lil girl” tend to provide. No matter the topic, he turns wordplay into a craft with ease. Relliks sound is often compared to Xzibit, Rick Ross or Aesop Rock. His professionalism in the studio and on stage promises to be rewarding in markets not only in Canada and the US, but overseas as well.
